It's John and Barbara's 50th Anniversary!
The big day was August 20th 1966, in Stittsville, Ontario. The 2 L-B's were in office, Lester B. Pearson in Canada and Lyndon B. Johnson in the US. The Righteous Brothers, The Mamas and Papas, The Monkeys, and The Beatles were topping the charts. Color TV was just starting to take off. Internet? Hardly a dream, long distance calls were done with a stopwatch to avoid what would be $30/min calls today.

We're Celebrating with a Summer BBQ Party!
Dress casually and bring your swim suits if you want to swim in the pool - yes really! We'll also have volleyball, outdoor ping-pong and horseshoe pits. For dinner we'll be having a country style BBQ in the Garden House at Strathmere. Don't forget your dancing shoes, after eating we'll be having some good old square dancing!
Schedule of Events
Feel free to arrive as early as 4pm - we have access to the pool and outdoor games as well we'll be opening the bar. Yes, the invitation says 5, that's when we'll start serving the appetizers, with dinner starting at 6:30.
After dinner we'll have some square dancing called by Geoff Clarke - yes, even complete novices can do it - as well as regular dancing.
After dancing for a while we'll have cake and coffee around 10pm, then back for more dancing until midnight.

Location
Strathmere is located just outside Ottawa, in North Gower. Fun fact: this is where Donna and Ian got married almost 24 years ago! You can get more details on the Strathmere website
Accommodations

Strathmere has rooms available for overnight guests, it includes the room and breakfast the next morning. We're staying, and so are the guests of honor, it would be great to have you as well.
Call Strathmere directly at 613-489-2409, and tell them you are part of the LeGrow Anniversary Party to make reservations. As of August 8th they still had a few rooms available. Check-in time is 3pm |

What should I wear?
This is a casual summer party, so no need for cocktail dresses or suits and ties. Donna is going to wear a casual summer dress, and Ian will be sporting a Hawaiian shirt and pants (maybe shorts if it's hot). If you want partake in the swimming don't forget your suit, or shorts for the games. It will probably cool down in the evening, so you might want a jacket or sweater as well. Don't forget the comfy shoes for dancing.
What about gifts?
Mum and dad tell us that they've had 50-years to accumulate everything they need - no gifts please :). In fact, if you want something, let them know, they might have an extra.
